In AML, mutations have been found in genes involved in epigenetic regulation, including genes affecting DNA (hydroxy)methylation, such as DNA methyltransferase 3A (DNMT3A), Tet oncogene family member 2 (TET2), and isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 (IDH1/2). Here, DNMT3A is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
