IGFBP1 and autoimmune disease: Sumiyoshi et al. identified molecular differences between TAFRO and iMCD that have potential diagnostic and prognostic value in distinguishing these different types of idiopathic multicentric Castleman’s disease; they found increased activation of the mTOR pathway in TAFRO compared to iMCD-NOS, which may elevate IGFBP-1, identifying IGFBP-1 as a promising new diagnostic and prognostic biomarker, with significantly higher levels in TAFRO than in iMCD-NOS, as well as in patients with other autoimmune diseases [11,12].
