OCLN and colitis: Moreover, Western blotting and immunofluorescence staining results were consistent with qPCR results and showed that DSS administration reduced the expression of E-cadherin, occludin, and ZO1, while ruscogenin treatment increased the level of these tight junction proteins in colon tissues from DSS-induced colitis mice, indicating that ruscogenin can improve intestinal barrier integrity in mice with colitis (Figure 5D–G).
