IL-37, formerly known as IL-1F7, is a novel anti-inflammatory cytokine in the IL-1 ligand family, but the only IL-1 family member that is not found in mice [5].IL-37 plays a pivotal role in both innate and adaptive immunity, and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of various inflammatory diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, autoimmune disease and multiple sclerosis and so on [6, 7]. This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and inflammatory bowel disease.
