IGF2BP2 and hepatocellular carcinoma: While IGF2BP2 is more commonly associated with metabolicfunctions and type 2 diabetes, it has also been studied in the contextof cancer.212 Its overexpression can leadto the stabilization and increased translation of specific mRNA targetsand, in some cases, can promote tumorigenesis and cancer progressionby enhancing the expression of oncogenic genes.213 In the context of hepatocellular carcinoma, IGF2BP2 overexpressionmay be linked to cancer development.214 The expression levels of IGF2BP2 in tumor tissues and its correlationwith clinical outcomes are areas of active research.
