The performance of calprotectin in the detection of bacterial infections (AUC (95% CI): 0.804 (0.691, 0.916)) was comparable to the performance of both PCT (0.901 (0.823, 0.980)) and CRP (0.859 (0.764, 0.953)) and superior to the WBC count (0.684 (0.544, 0.823)). Here, CRP is linked to bacterial infectious disease.
