To unravel the reason behind the incomplete rescue of cell death by ferroptosis inhibitors following PPARγ inhibition, we explored disulfidptosis, a new type of cell death; under glucose starvation, the supply of NADPH is insufficient, and the high expression of SLC7A11 in cancer cells induces abnormal accumulation of disulfides, leading to cell death [17]. The gene discussed is SLC7A11; the disease is cancer.
