Overexpression of BRCA1 in breast cancer cell lines increases the expression of several genes involved in antioxidant responses, such as glutathione S-transferase, by enhancing the antioxidant response of the transcription factor NRF-2, which in turn reduces ROS levels and confers resistance to H2O2 exposure [314,315]. The gene discussed is BRCA1; the disease is breast carcinoma.
