In the sensitivity analysis, after excluding subjects with prehypertension at baseline, the association between the cumulative mean serum albumin concentration and the risk of hypertension remained significant in the fully adjusted Model Q5 (OR, 0.58, 95% CI, 0.42–0.81) (ptrend = 0.008), with each 1-SD increase in cumulative mean serum albumin associated with a 15% reduction in the risk of hypertension (OR, 0.85, 95% CI, 0.77–0.90). The gene discussed is ALB; the disease is hypertensive disorder.
