Inflammatory cytokine IL-8 plays a major role in recruiting polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells (PMN-MDSCs), which inhibit the anti-cancer function of T cells in TNBC.36 Zhang et al. found that the expression of IL-8 was reduced after the knockdown of KRT81 in melanoma cells inhibited the progression of the tumor.37 This may also be one of the ways that KRT81 participates in tumor immunosuppression, and further studies are needed. The gene discussed is KRT81; the disease is melanoma.
