Using cis-pQTLs as instrumental variables, LOX-1 (OR = 1.82 (1.18–2.80), P = 6.8e-3), VEGF-A (OR = 1.10 (1.02–1.19), P = 0.02), and OPG (OR = 1.22 (1.02–1.47), P = 0.03) were found to increase the risk of CRC, while PTX3 (OR = 0.59 (0.40–0.88), P = 0.01), TNF-R2 (OR = 0.68 (0.49–0.93), P = 0.02), and MMP-7 (OR = 0.88 (0.78-1.00), P = 0.04) were found to be protective. This evidence concerns the gene VEGFA and colorectal carcinoma.
