NPPB and fibrosis: We found that EH led to the upregulation of natriuretic peptide A (NPPA) and B (NPPB), which have been shown to limit cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and death, and reduce cardiac fibrosis (Forte et al. 2022), hypocretin receptor 1 (HCRTR1), the deficiency in which leads to poorer cardiac function (Perez et al. 2015), and other genes that regulate cardiovascular function.
