In patients with ALS, an inverse correlation was found between Spp1 concentrations and ALSFRS‐R scores (r = −0.25, p = 0.02; Fig. 1A); however, after adjusting for age at sampling and sex as covariates, the significance disappeared (r = −0.14, p = 0.21; Table S5). The gene discussed is SPP1; the disease is amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
