In 2022, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Expert Consensus Decision Pathway (ECDP) on the role of non‐statin therapies for LDL‐C lowering in the management of ASCVD risk discussed three Food and Drug Administration (FDA)‐approved non‐statin therapies (bempedoic acid, evinacumab, inclisiran, and proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) monoclonal antibodies), which were not previously recommended in the 2018 American Heart Association (AHA)/ACC cholesterol guideline.42 This evidence concerns the gene PCSK9 and atherosclerosis.
