Taguchi [8] and Wu [9] used the mass-spectrometric technique on plasma and serum samples from non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients and found minor differences in the plasma/serum proteins between two sub-group patients who had significantly different efficacies of treatment with epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKIs). This evidence concerns the gene EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
