IL20 and eosinophilic esophagitis: Moreover, lacking a heparin-binding domain, IL-24 may escape from the extracellular matrix to the blood, which was evidenced by a recent finding that IL-20 subfamily cytokines increased significantly in the serum of patients with active eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) (Kaymak et al., 2023), indicating the possibility of these cytokines functioning in an endocrine way.
