PRKCE and familial pancreatic carcinoma: Given the prevalence of arachidonic acid, an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid, in Western diets—where pancreatic cancer is also notably common—and the overexpression of 5-Lox in pancreatic cancer cells, these findings implicate the metabolism of arachidonic acid through the 5-Lox pathway as a significant contributor to pancreatic cancer’s pathobiology by enhancing the protean effects of PKCε.
