False-negative results for HRP2 RDTs could come from parasites missing pfhrp2/3 gene, due to a prozone effect because of antigen saturation caused by high parasitemia, due to low parasitemia [39], either the quality of the RDT manufacture or the high specificity of commercially produced proprietary monoclonal antibodies used on the test devices [40], high concentrations of patient antibodies against HRP2/3 antigens may also contribute to the inhibition of RDT recognition of antigens [41, 42].
