Half of our patients had hypercholesterolemia at diagnosis (52.1%), similar to data for the general Spanish population (50.5%) [29] and, unlike other studies [18, 19], we did not find any association between total cholesterol and MBD or more aggressive subtypes (triple-negative or HER2-positive); on the contrary, we found higher levels of cholesterol in postmenopausal patients with luminal A subtype. The gene discussed is ERBB2; the disease is familial hypercholesterolemia.
