We applied DHEA in an in vitro follicular culture system to simulate PCOS follicular developmental block and ovulation impairment, we visualized that IL-22 treated follicles grew better and ovulated at a higher rate than the DHEA group and IL-22 restored the expression of follicular development marker genes (Mmp19, Zp3, Ermp1) and ovulation marker genes (Gdf9, Bmp15, Ptx3, Tnfaip6, Adamts1, Ptgs2), which was not the case in the Fshrcre+Stat3f/f mice. The gene discussed is ZP3; the disease is polycystic ovary syndrome.
