The recent development of techniques allowing to measure biomarkers of AD pathology (Aβ42/Aβ40 [8] and p-tau [9–11]), neurodegeneration (NfL) [12], and astrogliosis (GFAP) [13] in plasma has changed the way the research community envisions the future of diagnosis and management of patients with suspected AD or other neurodegenerative disorders. This evidence concerns the gene NEFL and Alzheimer disease.
