In IDH wild-type GBM, characterized by a higher prevalence and severity, there is an increased presence of macrophages expressing CD11b+ and CD45+, which exhibit an activated state associated with anti-inflammatory responses and are correlated with poorer patient outcomes compared to IDH-mutant GBM, where microglial concentrations are higher, fostering a pro-inflammatory milieu [91,92].
