Overexpression of HNF4α was found to ameliorate HFD-induced MASLD and metabolic abnormalities in mice with liver-specific VDR knockout, suggesting that vitamin D improves MASLD and metabolic irregularities by activating the hepatic VDR, fostering its interaction with HNF4α [78] (Figure 2). This evidence concerns the gene VDR and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
