In adenocarcinoma, low levels of vitamin D (at diagnosis) were associated with elevated levels of inflammatory biomarkers (IL-6, chitinase-3-like protein 1, CHI3L1, and CRP) in all stages of the disease; patients with sufficient vitamin D levels in the early stages of cancer showed a longer survival than those with low vitamin D levels [75]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is adenocarcinoma.
