Additionally, a rising C-reactive protein was observed prior to diagnosis of colorectal, lung, and ovarian cancer [23,47,48], but no association was noted with multiple myeloma or leukaemia [30,37], and rising fasting glucose was noted prior to diagnosis of gastro-intestinal, pancreatic, and overall cancer [24,26,33,35,41]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is plasma cell myeloma.
