Furthermore, we also included the lipid parameters (mediating variables) individually as covariates in the model (Table 2, models 4–14); the results revealed that except for the models where TC (Model 4: HR = 1.097) and LDL-CF (Model 7: HR = 1.096) were incorporated as covariates for adjustment, other models indicated a weakening of the association of BMI with diabetes risk.
