The current study utilized immunohistochemistry to identify β-catenin, which is a multifunctional boundary cadherin protein that serves as an intracellular signaling transducer in the WNT signaling pathway) in liver tissue and acts as a hepatic metabolism indicator involved in liver homeostasis and the regulation of cell adhesion, regeneration, proliferation, hypoxia resistance, apoptosis, steatosis, cholesterol metabolism and other biological processes [99], as it regulates the expression of genes that control glucose, xenobiotic, and nutrient metabolism. The gene discussed is CDH17; the disease is steatosis.
