Narcolepsy with cataplexy, named narcolepsy type 1, is caused by a deficiency in the hypothalamic neuropeptide orexin; the exact cause is not fully understood, but narcolepsy type 1 is generally believed to be an autoimmune reaction caused by the interaction of environmental and genetic factors (1, 3). Here, HCRT is linked to narcolepsy-cataplexy syndrome.
