MICB and glioblastoma: The expression of NKG2DLs has widely been reported on several cancer types, not just GBM.15 31 However, surface NKG2DL expression on healthy cells is mostly absent,17 although intracellular MICA and MICB have been reported in normal tissues.40 Given surface NKG2DL expression is mechanistically tied to various general phenotypes associated with cell stress and malignancy, such as the DDR and excessive proliferation,21 41 42 it may be difficult for cancer cells to avoid these general cancer-associated phenotypes.
