A large number of animal studies have shown that acupuncture/electroacupuncture can reduce oxidative stress after stroke via different pathways, such as regulating iron overload, inhibiting NF-κB-p53 activation, reducing cytotoxicity, and alleviating neurodegeneration and cell death (Yang et al., 2019; Liang et al., 2021). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is stroke disorder.
