CD177 is commonly acknowledged as a marker of neutrophil activation (65, 66) and it has been associated with neutrophil migration (67), degranulation (68) and NET formation (69) Increased numbers of circulating CD177+ neutrophils have also been reported in other systemic inflammatory diseases, such as sepsis (70), ANCA-associated systemic vasculitis (AAV), and SLE (71). The gene discussed is CD177; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
