Much of the literature suggested that the NLRP3 inflammasome is associated with various inflammatory diseases—for example, it is well known that LDL is a key factor in the formation of atherosclerosis, and it has been shown that phagocytosis of LDL induces the secretion of IL-1β through the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome, which plays an important role in the development of atherosclerosis (20). This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and atherosclerosis.
