Four-hundred and eighty-six AIS patients were recruited between January 2010 and December 2012 in the PREDICT study.12 Between February 2011 and April 2014, 227 patients with moderate to severe stroke were recruited in the STRAWINSKI study.13 Twenty-nine patients were recruited in both studies.14 Of a total 683 patients (from both studies), blood samples were available in 573 patients, and measurements for the three biomarkers MR-proANP, procalcitonin, and copeptin were available from 545.
