According to a prospective follow-up of 5.5 years, incidence of prediabetes/type 2 diabetes was lower among insulin-sensitive obese subjects than among insulin-resistant obese subjects (31.3% vs 48.7%) and was greater among insulin-resistant nonobese subjects than among insulin-sensitive nonobese subjects (47.1% vs. 26.0%) (P = 0.0024). This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
