We speculated that PLD2 may play a “double-edged sword” role in the development of late-stage CRC carcinogenesis and metastasis, which is associated not only with the enzyme activity of PLD which drives progression of CRC, but also with other as-yet-undiscovered pathways which suppress the malignancy and the metastasis of tumor cells. The gene discussed is GPLD1; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
