A study that included a less heterogenous group of patients (n=40), i.e. patients with probable CAA with mild cognitive impairment without prior ICH, found that CAA patients with elevated tau-PET retention as a marker for AD pathology, performed worse in the memory domain and had overall worse cognition (as measured with the Mini-Mental State Examination; MMSE) [7]. This evidence concerns the gene MAPT and Alzheimer disease.
