Carriers of variants in GBA1 (N = 159), accounting for 9% of the MIND cohort, reported a higher frequency of current or past depression (63%, 95% CI = 55–70, exact p = 0.00003, corrected p = 0.0004) or anxiety (69%, 95% CI = 61–75, exact p = 0.006, corrected p = 0.036), compared to GBA1/LRRK2 non-carriers (N = 1483, 46%, 95% CI = 43–48, and 57%, 95% CI = 55–60, respectively). The gene discussed is GBA1; the disease is depressive disorder.
