Genome-wide association studies have revealed the localization of the human COBLL1 gene in genomic regions associated with metabolism, including high-density cholesterol, triglyceride metabolism, insulin levels, type 2 diabetes, and other metabolic disorders (Manning et al., 2012; Albrechtsen et al., 2013; Desmarchelier et al., 2014). The gene discussed is INS; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
