Many case reports indicate that oral abnormalities, notably oral papillomas, generalised gingival hypertrophy and a high arched palate, may be common in adults with PHTS.18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 Furthermore, in mouse models, selective PTEN deletion in epithelial cells leads to the development of oral mucosal papillomas.24 The gene discussed is PTEN; the disease is PTEN hamartoma tumor syndrome.
