The three most strongly upregulated genes in the cornea in response to infection were CXCL8, solute carrier family 2 member 3 (SLC2A3) and TREM1. While the downregulated genes were ribosomal protein S27a (RPS27A), ribosomal protein L13a (RPL13A), BAG cochaperone 1(BAG1) and pancreatic progenitor cell differentiation and proliferation factor (PPDPF). Here, RPS27A is linked to infection.
