Based on these findings and on the specific correlations herein described between cTfh cell frequency, IL-6 levels, and neutralizing activity observed in vaccinated patients (Figures 4, 5), it is reasonable to speculate that high IL-6 levels induced by COVID-19 pneumonia can rapidly promote the differentiation and recruitment of cTfh cells and, consequently, the production of high-affinity neutralizing antibodies against the Omicron variant in the early infection stages. Here, IL6 is linked to infection.
