It is encoded in the pair strand of lysyl oxidase-like 1 (LOXL1) gene and has been proved to be carcinogenic in many human cancers. As a carcinogenic factor, LOXL1-AS1 plays a powerful regulatory role in tumor progression by interacting with a variety of signal molecules to affect the biological characteristics of various cancer cells, such as changing their invasion, proliferation and drug resistance [15–17]. LOXL1-AS1 may also affect non-cancer diseases such as periodontitis and osteoarthritis [18, 19]. This evidence concerns the gene LOXL1 and osteoarthritis.
