IGHE and allergic disease: Allergic diseases such as asthma, allergic rhinitis (or hay fever), food allergy, andatopic dermatitis (or eczema) share common etiological mechanisms characterized byan exaggerated immune response and the elevated production of allergen-specificimmunoglobulin E (IgE) (1) and are similarlyassociated with the risk factors linked to altered gut microbiota development duringinfancy (2).
