There is growing evidence that ANO1 is a CaCC that is involved in a variety of pathophysiological processes involving chloride ions, including pain,131 the inflammatory response,27 smooth muscle contraction,15 secretory epithelium secretion,18 slow‐wave activity in the gastrointestinal tract,28 cell proliferation13, 29 and tumour13, 29 development and that ANO1 is likewise important in liver disease development. This evidence concerns the gene ANO1 and liver disorder.
