ITGAX, also known as CD11c, complement receptor 4 (CR4), is responsible for encoding integrin αX chain proteins, a marker shared by macrophages and dendritic cells [36].ITGAX can promotes monocyte adhesion and chemotaxis, regulates immune response, and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of infection and atherosclerosis [37]. This evidence concerns the gene ITGAX and atherosclerosis.
