However, we observe that lowering FGFR3 may have potentially harmful effects on other common sources of morbidity, such as a higher risk of osteoarthritis of the hip or knee [OR: 1.42, 95% CI: 1.24 to 1.63; PP4: 0.99] and a reduced usual walking pace [Beta: −0.05, 95% CI: −0.03 to −0.07; PP4: 0.96], and higher circulating oestradiol levels (SD) [Beta: 0.03, 95% CI: 0.01 to 0.05; PP4: 0.94] and lower circulating albumin (SD) [Beta: −0.09, 95% CI: −0.06 to −0.14; PP4: 0.98]. This evidence concerns the gene FGFR3 and osteoarthritis.
