At baseline, 9 patients (12.3%) had impaired thyroid function: 5 had reduced TSH levels (2 previous thyroidectomies with levothyroxine replacement therapy excess, 1 amiodarone-induced thyrotoxicosis and 2 subclinical hyperthyroidism with negative anti-TSH receptor antibodies [TRAb]) and 4 patients presented with increased TSH at baseline (1 previous thyroidectomy requiring hormone replacement therapy adjustment, 1 hypothyroidism with positive autoimmunity, 2 subclinical hypothyroidism with negative autoimmunity). This evidence concerns the gene TSHR and Autoimmunity.
