SIRT6 and Parkinson disease: In 1-Methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) Parkinson’s mouse model, nicotine inhibits the activity of deacetylase SIRT6 or prevents the accumulation of SIRT6 molecules by mediating the degradation of proteasome, thus reducing the accumulation of inflammatory factor TNF-α, increasing the expression of phosphokinase AKT and signal transduction, and improving the survival rate of neurons (Nicholatos et al., 2018).
