In different models, we were able to show that patients with severe global coronary calcification had a thinner pRNFL independently of some of the atherosclerosis risk factors (HT, LDL-cholesterol, DM, hyperphosphatemia) and blood tests related to ischemic and functional cardiac damage (high-sensitivity troponin I, NT-ProBNP). The gene discussed is NPPB; the disease is hematocrit.
