BGD is characterized by various symptoms (goiter, exophthalmos, tachycardia, weight loss, decreased heat tolerance, etc.)caused by an increased production of thyroxine (FT4) and triiodothyronine (T3), as a result of TSH receptors’ (TSH-R) stimulation on the surface of thyroid cells by autoantibodies mimicking the effects of the TSH hormone, resulting in the decrease of the TSH serum concentration and thyroid inflammation [15]. Here, TSHR is linked to goiter.
